We are recruiting for a Facilities and Health & Safety Manager to join a highly regarded education setting near Shaftesbury, Dorset.

The Facilities and Health & Safety Manager is a key member of staff. Reporting to the HR & Operations Manager, the post-holder will need to have the knowledge, confidence, and skills to lead, influence and advise staff at all levels in matters of H&S and Compliance.

The unique site means that you will have an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging role, developing your H&S knowledge in some niche areas including buildings of varying ages and staff of varying degrees of understanding regarding Health & Safety legislation and best practice.

You will have a broad spectrum of key responsibilities in this role. These will include working with the company’s leadership team to develop a vision and strategy for health and safety compliance and facilities management, and deliver the agreed plan to a high standard. You will also take the lead in energy and sustainability management for the company. Daily responsibilities include contractor management, leading the estates team and managing the works output, overseeing and supporting the site’s maintenance programmes, and establish and oversee a quality assurance programme.

To be successful you should have at least 3 years of recent and relevant experience in a similar role You should be familiar with formulating and implementing H&S policies and handling H&S investigations. You will have clear experience in grounds and premises management and project management. We are looking for leadership qualities to motivate and inspire independent minded people and delegate effectively, maximising people’s potential.

You should hold the following qualifications:

  • HND (or similar) in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering
  • NEBOSH (General Certificate) qualified or working towards
  • NEBOSH certificate accreditation and NEBOSH Environmental Certificate
  • COSHH Trained

Hours of work for this position are Monday to Friday 37 hours per week, on a temporary basis for the first 12 months. This position will then be reviewed for a permanent position.
